Anyone know anything about jar files?

I'm trying to upload a jar file to my server. The first few I downloaded were in Executable Jar File (.jar) format, and my server allowed them. The others are WinRAR ZIP archive (.zip) format, and the server is rejecting them. I need to change it from a WinRAR ZIP archive to an Executable Jar File. How do I do this?
