I'm sure there has to be a way to connect to one's home PC remotely without having to...?

ORB is really marketed as a way to gain remote access to multimedia files, but it also includes a file browsing function which will allow you to remotely access files, folders and drives which you or your IT department can specify. Download available here: a href="http://www.orb.com/" rel="nofollow"http://www.orb.com//a The only problem I see is in order for you to use it, YOU WILL need to install the application on your office computer. Once installed, you will have access to those files you specified from ANY WEB BROWSER. My suggestion is to speak with the head of your company's IT department and explain your needs. Make sure you specify that it's FREE, as many times resistance originates with cost, but since it will not cost the company anything for you to use, that should ease some minds. Another approach would be for you to ask your direct supervisor to speak to IT, positioning the use of ORB as a way for you to be more efficient at your job, Ie: putting in hours from home and/or telecommuting in inclement weather. I'm sure that the first time you are able to do something from home, say on a Saturday or a Sunday, the powers that be will immediately see ORB as a valuable and powerful office tool.
